First Direct is giving customers a co-creation platform within its app, enabling direct involvement in developing new products and services.
The new feature, called fdesign Mobile, means first direct can share updates with ‘fdesigners’, who can feedback on any proposed changes.
Joe Gordon, head of first direct, said: “fdesign Mobile helps us to put more products and services through their paces, faster, working out niggles and helping us create a truly modern and open banking service that’s right for now and the future.”
Customers will be able to register on the homepage in order access the new area of the iOS app.
fdesign initially launched in 2016, with the bank working alongside a group of customers to develop improvements to the website.
The launch follows on from the introduction of fdpay in January 2019, which allows app users to make secure peer-to-peer payments seamlessly while using social media apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
First Direct is not the first UK bank to develop via user testing, with mobile-only challengers like Monzo building products and services with an engaged base of early customers.
