Elavon targets Apple Pay in Canada

Payment processor Elavon is now offering businesses in Canada access to Apple Pay following the country’s recent launch of the mobile payment service.

Apple Pay was rolled out to American Express cardholders in Canada in November, and payment processors are starting to incorporate the technology for their merchant clients. Elavon’s existing EMV-contactless point of sale terminals will now accept Apple Pay, where customers confirm the transaction using Touch ID on their device.

Mia Huntington, vice president of Elavon in Canada, said: “Elavon has been an early supporter of mobile payments, and Canadians continue to demonstrate their interest in adopting new payment technologies. Along with the increasing consumer demand for contactless payments, Elavon and Apple Pay enable businesses to offer the convenience their customers expect through their preferred method of payment including their iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.”
