DBS Bank adopts cloud productivity tech

DBS Bank has become the first Singapore bank to go live with cloud-based productivity technology, designed to help employees improve mobility, efficiency and productivity in the workplace.

The bank will pilot the Office 365 programme among 1,000 staff, with a view to including its entire 22,000-strong workforce across 18 markets over the course of the next year. The solution will allow employees to work collaboratively from anywhere, across PCs, tablets and smartphones.

Across the organisation, meetings can now be conducted through Skype for Business, cutting down on travelling time. Meanwhile, enterprise social network Yammer will provide a platform to collaborate across departments and locations. To encourage knowledge sharing across DBS’ network of employees, each individual will also receive an increase of file storage capacity to 1TB per user on OneDrive.

David Gledhill, head of technology and operations at DBS, explained: “In the last few years, we have made good headway in creating a ‘FinTech-like’ workforce that is focused on making the customer experience simpler and more seamless. Inculcating a digital mindset in our people aside, it is also important to give them work tools that break down silos, enhance collaboration, foster greater efficiency and facilitate working on the go.”
