The Co-operative Bank has announced more than 100 new jobs for IT and digital specialists in the North West of England, as it moves forward with plans to develop online and digital propositions.
Roles are open to applicants with all levels of experience, from graduates to seasoned professionals, with applications encouraged from a wide variety of backgrounds. An ‘open doors’ event will be held on 8 May in the centre of Manchester, where the bank’s head office is based.
The Co-op Bank is transforming its IT and digital capabilities, as part of a multi-million pound five year investment plan.
IT and change director Mark Record said: “Building a market-leading online and digital proposition for our customers is key to the future success of the bank and we need the right people and skills to help us deliver this.
“We are at the start of our transformation journey and with our series of recruitment events we want to bring in the best and the brightest from across the North West and beyond,” he added.
Earlier this year, the bank announced that it had returned to operating profit for the first time since 2013, despite IT upgrades and PPI payouts resulting in an overall loss before tax. A statement of full year profits for 2018 showed group losses before tax were £140.7 million, up slightly from £140.3 million in 2017. However, operating costs were down by 13 per cent to £374 million.
