BPS, an association of 350 cooperative banks in Poland, is extending its automated teller machine estate by purchasing 80 NCR SelfServ ATMs. The order includes the Aptra Advance NDC operational software and a managed services maintenance contract for the next five years.
In late 2010, BPS plans to buy another 100 ATMs from NCR as it extends its network further across Poland. The collective's affiliate banks already use 440 NCR ATMs and are ordering the new units to increase coverage across Poland, enhance customer service and uptime levels, and improve operational efficiencies.
The multi-functional NCR SelfServ ATMs are compact and come with innovative 'self-healing' capabilities, claims the manufacturer, which allows the units to automatically recover from soft failures quickly, with no need for service intervention or an engineer to visit the location of the cash machine. Consequently, recovery time for these units is typically reduced from three to four hours, to just 10 to 15 minutes. The improved availability will help BPS' affiliate banks to secure high customer satisfaction levels. The units also feature protected USB technology which can help prevent unauthorised hardware changes.
"Self-service innovations that add more value to the service quality for our customers [i.e. affiliate banks] are always welcome," says Aneta Pielacka, the director of BPS. "We want to offer them easy-to-use and trustworthy solutions, while protecting our investment for the future. The compact size of ATMs and the large, user-friendly, colour screen of the machines were also important considerations when selecting the NCR SelfServ ATMs."
