French banking group BNP Paribas is rolling out a number of virtual reality (VR)-based services to its customers, designed to improve and streamline their banking experience.
The bank has launched a VR-based app which provides its customers with a variety of features, including account management functions and a view of their bank transaction records.
The new technology also offers the ability to follow through the various steps of a real estate purchase in virtual reality mode. BNP Paribas has, in partnership with French startup Vectuel & RF Studio, developed a ‘teleportation’ capsule called the POD, which enables customers to transport themselves inside a new apartment or building for sale and view it in 3D and 360 degrees.
This is not the first time that the French bank has immersed itself in the world of VR. In 2016, the bank launched the VR Arles Festival, the first arts festival dedicated to VR, while at the 2017 French Open tournament, the bank will invite fans to take part in a virtual tennis match.
Bertrand Cizeau, head of BNP Paribas group communications, said: “Virtual reality and augmented reality tools will gradually become part of our customers’ daily lives, providing new kinds of interfaces between our various publics and our services. At BNP Paribas we are extremely interested in these new technologies, they are an integral part of our innovation policy, and we firmly intend to draw on them in order to create ground-breaking services designed to further streamline the customer journey and improve the overall customer experience.”
