Bank of Singapore, a subsidiary of the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) is deploying an AI tool intended to halve the time it takes to onboard wealth clients.
The new platform, Holistic wEalth Lifecycle Insights & Ongoing Surveillance (HELIOS), pulls together client information to automate the Know Your Customer process, due diligence, and to produce credit risk profiles.
In a briefing with the media, the Bank of Singapore said it has reduced the time it takes to onboard its high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth customers to 15 days, down from the industry average of six weeks.
The organisation added that it has onboarded 50 clients using HELIOS in the five months since it was first launched. Approximately 100 relationship managers across its Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore offices have adopted HELIOS.
Bank of Singapore chief executive Jason Moo said: “The beauty of the system was it was built by compliance,” The Business Times reported. This means they “can build their standards already into the system”.
The Bank of Singapore intends to complete its HELIOS rollout by the third quarter of 2026.
The use of generative AI for onboarding is a point of increasing investment for banks and financial institutions.
In May 2025, Revolut deployed new AI-powered verification technology for onboarding developed by identity services provider Fourthline.
Customers Bank announced in April that it had agreed a multi-year collaboration with OpenAI, with goals including the streamlining of its accounts setup and onboarding processes.
