Wolters Kluwer Financial Services has entered the German financial services market. The company, which is part of Wolters Kluwer, provides compliance and risk management solutions to the industry. Entering the German financial market sees Wolters Kluwer Financial Services taking a further step in promoting its international diversification.

Banking and payments technology provider, FIS, has launched its ClearCommerce ePayment processing and fraud prevention solution as a hosted service in Europe. The offering will support multiple market sectors including retail, hospitality and travel.

Siemens IT Solutions and Services and CA Technologies have announced a strategic alliance to provide carbon and sustainability management tools and processes that measure, assess and report environmental impact and performance within an organisation. The collaboration will combine CA Technologies and its CA ecoSoftware suite with Siemens’ multi-discipline industrial experience in carbon and sustainability management.

Tieto is to supply cloud-based testing management to Finnish S-Bank. S-Bank is the only supermarket bank in the country, and has around 2.3 million customers.

Tesco Bank has launched its first savings product using Fiserv’s Signature bank platform. The Tesco Bank Fixed Rate Saver was launched in October 2010, and offers returns for a fixed term deposit of one or two years.

ActivIdentity, a provider of authentication and credential management, has launched into Europe with an authentication server that doubles the number of authentication methods available to customers, including 15 two-factor methods.

Callcredit Information Group has launched Data-Gateway, a product for the collections industry. The product can rapidly profile, audit, cleanse, suppress and enhance consumer data via an online system available 24/7.

Ixaris has launched three ‘paylets’ to run on its new open payment platform, Ixaris Opn. Paylets enable the rapid creation of secure, compliant and flexible payment applications, and Ixaris Opn is the only open payment platform that works with Visa, MasterCard and SWIFT for both outbound and inbound purposes.

Monitise has announced a joint venture with Best Buy Europe, along with the personal backing of founder of The Carphone Warehouse, Charles Dunstone, to create the Mobile Money Network. Monitise will hold 40 per cent ownership, which followed discussions in December 2009. Launching in 2011, the network will have a range of products and services to enable people to get the most from ‘Mobile Money on the move’, and will be an independent, trusted and secure one-stop shop for mobile services.

The National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) Corporation has confirmed that it will continue its long-term contract for the administration of the new government pension scheme to 30 June 2020, with the option to extend this up to five years beyond then. The contract covers all aspects of scheme administration, including web-based enrolment, record keeping, contribution collection and details of each individual’s retirement pot. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the NEST scheme administrator.

Romonet has launched the world’s first predictive modelling tool for datacentres and ICT, Prognose. The product models the interaction and dependencies within a datacentre environment to help users understand and control cost, energy use and risk throughout the entire datacentre lifecycle. It allows users to design, build, operate and maintain datacentres based on a detailed simulation of equipment and facilities.

European provider of carrier-neutral collocation datacentre services, Interxion, has launched 13 dedicated Cloud Hubs in strategically located datacentres in 11 countries across Europe. The move provides customers with a turnkey infrastructure solution for cloud service development and brings the number of datacentres in operation by Interxion up to 28, across 11 European countries.

Attix5 has formed a strategic partnership with VMware, with the aim of improving internal efficiency and performance for VMware’s SELECT Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) programme. Attix5 has achieved TAP status following rigorous testing, and the latest version of its software, Attix5 Backup Pro Version 6, has enhancements such as de-duplication, which amplifies the benefits of virtualisation.

SunGard has launched Recover Anywhere, a service to help extend full desktop recovery, including voice capability, to as high a percentage of the workforce as an organisations would require in the event of a business disruption. Research sponsored by SunGard showed that 58 per cent of UK CFOs currently expect only up to 40 per cent of staff to be able to continue to work from home in the event of a major disruption to normal business.

Thunderhead and Sapient Global Markets have signed an agreement to improve customer retention, compliance and operational efficiency for clients. Through the partnership, Sapient Global Markets will apply its expertise in capital markets and change management, while Thunderhead will provide technical consultancy – supplying clients with enterprise communications solutions that streamline processing time, cut admin costs and provide an accurate, auditable process for document generation that is benchmarked against industry best practice.

Consumer security solutions provider, AVG Technologies, has acquired Tel Aviv-based DroidSecurity, a cloud-based mobile security company, from its founders and investors. The acquisition enables AVG’s Mobile Solutions Team (MST) to extend its security offerings for its more than 110 million consumers and small businesses in 170 countries, to include the rapidly expanding mobile security arena.

FRSGlobal has expanded operations with the launch of a new Central & Eastern Europe Hub – FRSGlobal Czech Republic. The content-rich solutions provider for unified global regulatory reporting and risk management has expanded with the acquisition of the regulatory reporting business from its former partner in the region, KPMG Czech Republic, and the launch of a CEE hub in Prague.

VeriFone has released its PAYware Merchant managed service across Europe. A strategic partnership with Gemalto has completed VeriFone’s pan-European sales and distribution network, and has made a continental payment gateway service feasible. The solution is aimed at large retailers, fuel organisations and hospitality companies, and the PCI DSS-compliant platform integrates with virtually any front-end POS system.

Financial transactions lifecycle management specialist, SmartStream, has announced a new card, ATM and POS reconciliation solution, TLM Corona for Cards, which aims to deliver more efficient and effective card transaction management. The solution is available as a standalone product, or as part of the existing TLM Corona offering.

The European Payments Council (EPC) has released updated and enhanced versions of the SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) Scheme Rulebook, and the SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) Scheme Rulebooks. From 1 November 2010, all banks in the euro became reachable for cross-border SEPA direct debits as mandated by European Union (EU) law.

SAP has announced a deeper collaboration with NEC to deliver portions of the enterprise resource planning application via NEC’s cloud infrastructure. NEC will provide users with a comprehensive solution based on SAP ERP to help run a company’s operations without the need for additional IT resources.

Protection provider PruProtect has announced a range of improvements to its intermediary service proposition, including New Mobile Zone; Go Green; and Online sales tools. The new changes were rolled out to the UK protection market from late October.

Green Data Systems has opened a cloud computing laboratory to help businesses, government and research institutions of higher learning to design, adopt and reap benefits of cloud technologies. The new lab is housed in Deventer, Netherlands, and is part of Green Data Systems’ expansion of its cloud computing capabilities and services around Europe.

Virgin Money has chosen FRSGlobal’s unified risk and regulatory reporting solution for its UK retail banking operations. FRSGlobal, part of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, will deliver a unified datacentres serving both the risk and regulatory functions and the flexibility to accommodate the requirements of a rapidly-changing risk and regulatory environment.

Savvis has made an agreement with global interdealer broker ICAP to provide Savvis’ clients who are also authorised traders of EBS and BrokerTec with ultra-low latency direct access to the EBS foreign exchange and BrokerTec fixed income trading platforms, via ICAP’s premium i-Cross collocation service. The platform provides access to global markets for more than 2,800 spot FX, precious metals and non-deliverable forwards traders in over 50 countries around the world.

Fundtech has expanded its SOA Services Platform with a wide range of cash and liquidity management services derived from its Global CASHplus product. It has completed the web service interface for its financial messaging suite, and has made it fully SOA compliant.

Deutsche Bank's Global Transaction Banking has launched a social media campaign to further engage with financial institution clients. The social media tool enables clients to “Drive DB!” by directly influencing and contributing to the solutions the Bank develops for them.

Calastone has launched an automated trading service for hedge funds, and has successfully completed the first hedge fund transactions using the SWIFT SHarP ISO 20022 suite of messages. Veritas Asset Management is one of the first firms to use the hedge fund service.
