Metro Bank issues cards in store

Verisoft and Metro Bank have formed a partnership that will see the provider of EMV Card Issuance solutions issue Bank Cards in store.

The first new Retail Bank in the UK for over 100 years hopes to deliver high levels of customer service, including the issuance of Bank Cards and setting PIN numbers in store.

Craig Donaldson, chief executive officer at Metro Bank, said: “We want to kill stupid bank rules and we believe one of these rules is that you have to wait two weeks for your card and PIN number. Working with Verisoft we have developed a solution where customers get their cards in store and set their own pin number on the spot.”

Verisoft’s InstantEMV application will be used to issue 100 per cent of Metro Bank Cards. The application resides on the Metro Bank Host system, and uses the MagTek ExpressCardEMV to personalise bank cards in store.

Each Metro Bank branch will have multiple ExpressCardEMV devices, and these can be re-located to new locations, allowing Metro Bank to cater at the opening of new stores.

Security during the InstantEMV card issuance process is delivered through the system, with multiple features in place to ensure this.
