MasterCard selects emergency card replacement service

Digital security company Gemalto has entered into an agreement to be MasterCard’s preferred emergency card replacement vendor worldwide.

Premium cardholders are able to receive a new card in 24 hours or less, even when on the move, anywhere in the world.

MasterCard, once notified of a lost or stolen card, taps into Gemalto’s global network of certified banking service centres and provides the cardholder’s confidential information through a secured communication infrastructure. Gemalto then takes steps to supply a replacement card.

Daniel Balistierri, vice president Cardholder Solutions, MasterCard, said: “MasterCard is committed to providing utmost convenience for consumers. We have selected Gemalto for their ability to quickly react to our customers’ needs. Their unified network of service centres, dispersed in all five continents, ensures cardholders will quickly receive a replacement card no matter where they travel.”

Philippe Cambriel, executive vice president, Gemalto, added: “MasterCard and Gemalto share a mutual dedication to delivering white-glove services and we are proud to be the only third party to offer worldwide emergency card replacement.”

Gemalto also handles centralised data management, providing MasterCard with the convenience of a ‘single entry point’.
