Hackers Lulz Security are targeting the banking sector as part of a new campaign dubbed Operation Anti-Security (#AntiSec). The collective has issued a statement in which it declares "immediate and unremitting war on the freedom-snatching moderators of 2011."
The statement adds; "Whether you're sailing with us or against us, whether you hold past grudges or a burning desire to sink our lone ship, we invite you to join the rebellion. Together we can defend ourselves so that our privacy is not overrun by profiteering gluttons. Your hat can be white, gray or black, your skin and race are not important. If you're aware of the corruption, expose it now, in the name of Anti-Security."
"Top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation. Prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments. If they try to censor our progress, we will obliterate the censor with cannonfire anointed with lizard blood," it continues, concluding that: "History begins today."
Lulz Security has also rubbished suggestions that the teenager arrested this week for website attacks in a joint Scotland Yard and FBI probe is connected to the collective. It tweeted: "Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it's all over now... wait... we're all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?"
It also mocked claims it was involved in the UK census hack, tweeting: "That wasn't us - don't believe fake LulzSec releases unless we put out a tweet first...But hey, if someone out there hacked the UK government in the name of #AntiSec, well done sirs!"
