Citi has been hit by computer hackers who have stolen data from thousands of North American customers.
Last month, hackers breached Citi Account Online, the bank has revealed. Names, account numbers and e-mail addresses were compromised although birth dates, social security numbers and card security codes were not impacted as they were held elsewhere.
"We are contacting customers whose information was impacted. Citi has implemented enhanced procedures to prevent a recurrence of this type of event," a spokesperson said in a statement to the Reuters news agency.
