Speaker profile: Matthew Gardner
Matthew Gardner is an Solutions Architect at Cockroach Labs, where he helps financial services organisations design data architectures built for resilience, scale, and regulatory confidence. Based in London, Matthew has spent around a decade working with banks, fintechs, and payment providers on mission-critical platforms where availability, consistency, and operational control are essential.
At FStech, Matthew will draw on this experience to explore how DORA and the FCA’s evolving operational resilience agenda are changing the way financial institutions think about third-party dependency, concentration risk, and foundational architecture. He is particularly interested in how firms can move beyond recovery planning to build systems capable of absorbing disruption across cloud providers, critical technology services, and the wider financial ecosystem.
In his session, “Beyond the Perimeter: Building Genuine Operational Resilience in an Age of Systemic Risk,” Matthew will discuss the architectural principles and accountability models needed to reduce systemic risk and help regulated institutions stay ahead of where operational resilience regulation is heading.
