This award will recognise the most effective datacentre or storage project undertaken by a financial services provider. Evidence of strategic planning, efficiency, design, consideration for security and business continuity needs, and a proven record of good project management, will be required in this category.

Deutsche Bank AG

Deutsche Bank established in 7 months a GRID Database Infrastructure using commodity hardware instead of special hardware. The project has reduced complexity of hardware significantly, increased performance and reduced hardware costs already by 60 % (2 MEUR p.a.) and reached a revenue increase of more than 5 MEUR p.a.

Deutsche Boerse Systems

New Strategic Data Centre for Deutsche Boerse Group: to establish a financial pit in Central Europe, a new data centre for the financial community has been selected and developed. The data centre has been designed to host the systems of Deutsche Boerse Group as well as the customers trading environments and fulfils the high demands of availability and efficiency for the future.

Lloyds Banking Group

Lloyds Banking Group’s Wholesale Markets and Treasury & Trading business overcame the challenge of integrating distributed modular storage environments from two of the UK’s largest banks. Following a merger, it created a centralised, virtualised strategic environment to manage over 1PB of data and met business requirements to support sustainable growth.


In June, Nationwide completed a database consolidation project; involving migrating over 600 production databases and 170 systems off aging platforms to secure significant savings in costs, whilst improving reliability and advancing Nationwide’s sustainability goals. Through the data centre transformation Nationwide has crucially created a platform for future growth and stability.
