Best use of IT in retail banking

This award will recognise the most effective use of IT in bringing business benefits to a financial services provider, regardless of size, in a retail banking environment. Nominations may be for a single project or for an overall strategy. The winning entry will demonstrate how the strategic use of technology has brought their company cost benefits, improved internal processes, enhanced customer service (where applicable) and helped further that organisation’s opportunities of future business success.

Barclaycard- iphone application

As part of Barclaycard’s ongoing commitment to innovation in 2010, they worked with IE, part of the Parseq group, and First Data, to create an iPhone application for Barclaycard’s Orange Credit Card customers. The application offers unique on- and off-line functionality, and also allows customers to pay their Orange Credit Card bill from their iphone.

Barclaycard- Freedom loyalty scheme project

Barclaycard formed a partnership with Welcome Real-time to provide the technology infrastructure behind the Barclaycard Freedom loyalty scheme. As a result of this groundbreaking partnership, more than eight million customers are able to earn personalised rewards in more than 20,000 retail outlets making it the broadest loyalty scheme in the UK.

Deutsche Bank AG- Productshop

Productshop delivered a unique retail product sales platform integrated into online banking. It leverages our retail IT platform and integrates existing applications to deliver a multi-channel, multi-brand, multi-device solution with full reuse of existing application stacks.

Deutsche Bank AG – ‘mein Zukunftsplaner’

In 2010 Deutsche Bank developed a new approach to create interest and demand for financial advisory. Supported by an intuitive Microsoft Surface application customers can explore their wishes for the future. This enables a much more individual discussion with the advisor and deepens the relationship between customers and Deutsche Bank.

Metro Bank – ICT architecture project

Metro Bank’s ICT architecture is helping revolutionise the banking industry. Innovative services, such as rapid account opening procedures, put the customer at the heart of its proposition, and challenge the status quo. Technology is enabling this vision.

Metro Bank- TEMENOS T24

Metro Bank, the first new bank to enter the UK retail market for more than 150 years, implemented TEMENOS T24 to launch a revolutionary banking model into the UK market, underpinned by superior customer service and a unique branch experience.

The Royal Bank of Scotland- PayAway-IP Direct

Responding to customer needs and research, in February 2009, RBS Global Transaction Services (GTS) UK set out to deliver an on-line payment solution for customers regardless of their location. ‘PayAway-IP Direct’, an innovative solution, gives business and public sector customers a 24/7 payment solution whilst achieving significant return on investment.
