Standard Chartered has announced the appointment of Yusuf Demiral as global head of wealth and retail banking (WRB) data, analytics and AI.
Demiral joins the bank from HSBC, where he served as group head of data analytics and customer relationship management (CRM) for wealth and personal banking. He was responsible for driving data platforms, advanced analytics and CRM capabilities for HSBC's retail and wealth banking operations across products, segments and channels, leading a global team of more than 1,000 professionals in over 20 markets.
Prior to joining HSBC, Demiral worked at Barclays, where he held the role of analytics and modelling director for five years. He also spent three years at Citibank as strategic analytics unit head.
In his newly created role, Demiral will lead Standard Chartered's WRB data, analytics and AI strategy across the end-to-end client journey and collaborate closely with other teams to deliver the overall strategy of the chief client office.
He will join the bank in July and report to Samir Subberwal, global head of wealth solutions, deposits and mortgages, and chief client officer.
"As we continue to deliver innovative, digital-first personalised experiences for our clients, Yusuf will play a critical role in strengthening the use of data, analytics and AI capabilities to enhance the client journey," Subberwal said. "His knowledge and deep expertise built over the years will be instrumental for us to continually drive innovation, helping to deepen our client relationships and advance our abilities to meet their evolving needs."
