InsurTech INSTANDA hires director to lead European expansion

InsurTech platform INSTANDA has appointed Steven Haasz, a former AXA chief operating officer, as partnerships and accounts director to lead the business’ European expansion.

The platform, which offers customer and policy management services to the insurance industry, hired Haasz following a recent $19.5 million Series A funding round.

He was also previously managing director at Prudential European and chief operating officer at Chubb Europe.

Haasz will take on a hybrid role within the business. Externally he will be responsible for driving forward INSTANDA’s expansion into Europe, focusing on partnerships and accounts on the continent; while nternally, he will take on the role of chief of staff, working with senior management on developing the offering to the life, general insurance and London markets.

Earlier this month, INSTANDA announced the appointment of Greg Murphy, formerly a technology executive at W. R. Berkley to executive vice president for North America, to lead the INSTANDA North American expansion.

Haasz said: “Being able to bring insurance products to market quickly and seamlessly whilst maintaining operational efficiencies has never been more important, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Yet the insurance industry is notoriously bogged down by monolithic legacy systems which stand in the way of achieving speed or agility when delivering the products that consumers really need.”

INSTANDA founder and chief executive Tim Hardcastle added: “The pandemic has shone a light on just how imperative it is for the global insurance industry to digitise - as we emerge from this crisis, and consumer demands are changed forever as a result, insurers all around the world must be able to adapt accordingly and have business models in place that enable efficiency, agility and adaptability.

"Bypassing outdated legacy systems through the use of technology is the only way to achieve this.”
