Kas Bank outsources to Atos, Munich Re follows suit

Kas Bank is signing a two and a half year outsourcing contract with Atos Origin for its mainframe services. Moving the bank’s mainframe facilities from Amsterdam, London, and Wiesbaden to Atos’ European mainframe data centre in Essen will enable it to be more flexible and free up capacity

The mainframe outsourcing contract stipulates that Atos support Kas Bank’s main business applications during the migration process this year. It will also ensure continued compliance with requirements such as SAS 70.

• In other news, Munich Re is signing an outsourcing contract worth over £13 million, also with Atos Origin, which will develop and manage all IT applications and systems for the re-insurer for the next five years.

The decision to appoint Atos Origin forms part of Munich Re’s IT strategy in the UK to further strengthen its client services and more cost effectively manage its risk through improved and standardised IT systems and policies. The new contract replaces a number of existing contracts and will provide Munich Re (UK) with an improved, more flexible and cost efficient service.

“Atos Origin proposed a simpler and more efficient solution that will enable us to better meet our future business requirements,” said Chris Everson, UK Head of Business Solutions at Munich Re. “The new service from Atos Origin provides us with the flexibility and control that we need to better manage risk, respond faster to changes in the market place and ensure compliance with new regulations.”

The Atos Origin solution provides the ability to flex on-shore and off-shore based on business and technical requirements with the services being delivered seamlessly from the UK and India. The Atos Origin team in India will focus on applications development and management, while the team in the UK will work closely with Munich Re (UK) to manage testing, design further service improvements and to ensure that the systems continue to meet the needs of the business.
