TSB customers will be among the first in Europe to use facial recognition technology, Face ID, to unlock their TSB mobile banking app and make payments.
The new facial authentication technology exclusive to Apple’s iPhone X aims to add further security and convenience for the increasing number of smartphone banking users.
The move by TSB comes just weeks after it launched Samsung Pass iris recognition for its customers.
On Tuesday Tesco Bank also announced changes to its mobile banking app, allowing its iPhone X customers to log in and authenticate payments using Face ID.
Carlos Abarca, TSB’s chief information officer, said: “This is the ultimate mobile banking experience for people that want instant access to their banking. Providing customers with biometrics logon to their mobile banking, such as Face ID, means all of those passwords and memorable information become a thing of the past.
“Digital solutions like this are playing a major role in the everyday lives of our customers – something that will not slow down and we’re excited to be at the forefront of the new technology.”
