RBI first to launch m-payments in Austria

Raiffeisen Bank International is to launch CardMobile, the first solution in Austria allowing for contactless payments via smartphones.

It has teamed on this with SIX Card Solutions who will process the transactions on its platform. The company has been working with RBI since 2009, having also supported the introduction of contactless credit cards in Austria last year.

Gerald Kubu, head of CardService at RBI, comments: “Pioneering work requires creativity, but also quality and speed in order to succeed in a complex environment. We wanted to be the first to launch mobile payments in the Austrian market. With a very short time to market and high commitment, SIX Card Solutions helped to make our project successful.”
