IBM has joined BIAN, the Banking Industry Architecture Network. Chae An (IBM’s vice president of financial services solutions) has also taken a seat on BIAN’s board.

The association says that having IBM and An’s backing will boost its efforts to create interoperability and common standards within banks and the IT community. The software giant is the tenth new member to join in the past 12 months.

BIAN works with its more than 30 members (including Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Scotiabank, Microsoft, Infosys and Temenos) to establish an industry-wide consensus to achieve flexible architecture, thorough SOA.
