Curve to launch crowdfunding campaign

Curve is to launch its first crowdfunding campaign next month.

The app-based banking platform, which consolidates multiple payment cards into one smart card, is to open a seven figure crowdfunding campaign to investors in September.

The round will be run on equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube.

The move comes after the platform secured $55 million from its Series B funding round in June, valuing the company at a $250 million and making it the UK’s fifth most funded consumer FinTech. The crowdfund will increase the total investment in the business to over $70 million.

The round will be priced at the same post money valuation as Curve's Series B and users will be able to invest as little as £10.

The company claims to have signed up more than 500,000 users to its service since it launched in 2018. It has grown to 160 employees and expects its customer base to double to around one million by the end of the year.

The company said it would roll out a series of new features for the UK market, while continuing growth into six European markets later this year, including France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain – as well as launching operations into the US by mid next year.

Shachar Bialick, founder and chief executive of Curve, said: “We’re now opening up ownership of Curve to the public, which presents an exceptional opportunity for people to invest in a business that is growing at a phenomenal rate.”
