Liam Newcombe
Consultant

Liam comes to our conference with a reputation for short patience with vendor spin. Liam’s main area of skill is in reliability and maintainability analysis of IT systems and using these skills to challenge the way we build and operate Data Centres. Whilst there is no shortage of products and initiatives in the market that claim to ‘green’ your data centre, few have any significant track record and there is little information on how to integrate them into a coherent strategy for IT.

Liam will be taking a look at what a data centre whose operators decide to go for a green strategy now might actually look like in two or three years time. Will it be significantly greener? Can you have green and reliability? Which of the technologies work together? What new skills will you need?

Liam has experience of driving international projects and teams, with an emphasis on lifecycle issues and the total cost of ownership. He is also a leading figure within the BCS.
